Be part of FIRST® LEGO® League as a volunteer!
FIRST LEGO League events run not only on great teams and their impressive robots and innovation projects, but also on the indispensable contributions of amazing volunteers.
As a volunteer during a FIRST LEGO League competition, you are a role model who inspires, guides and supports participants on their journey of discovery. A variety of roles are available, from referees and judges to event support and logistics heroes. Whether you are a technology prodigy, have a passion for teamwork, or are just enthusiastic about inspiring young people, there is a role tailored for you!
Robot design judge
Your profile: You have affinity for STEM and you have technical insight. Knowledge of (LEGO®) robotics and programming (Scratch) is a plus but not necessity. You can listen well and ask specific questions at the level of our (young) participants.
Time commitment: You will be present during the whole event day and possibly a training moment beforehand.
Your tasks: Questioning teams about their robot design, programming, mission strategy and application of the FIRST® LEGO® League Core Values. Providing positive and constructive feedback on a predetermined jury form. You will be part of the judging panel at the end of the judging sessions during which Awards will be assigned to the participating teams.
Innovation project judge
Your profile: You have an affinity for STEM and education. Technical insight is not a requirement. You can listen well and ask targeted questions at the level of our (young) participants.

Referee

Time commitment: You will be present during the whole event day and possibly one training moment beforehand.
Your tasks: Observing the three robot competitions, giving scores for the achieved missions using the score form, consulting with the team members and entering or noting the achieved scores. A referee is always assisted by the experienced head referee.
Event support

Time commitment: You are present throughout the eventday and possibly a briefing moment beforehand.
Your tasks: You check that teams are present at the correct jury room. You do timekeeping so that the judging sessions do not overrun. After each jury session, you collect the jury forms and deliver them to the competition secretariat. You may also be engaged at the robot competitions where you check that the team is present and at the right table. At the end of the day you help hand out the medals.
